Emerald Valley imports the finest natural herbal
infusions from Equiglobal Ltd. in England. The products are
manufactured with purified water in a medicines licensed facility. This
is the important difference in the quality, effectiveness and
reliability of our products.
There are many advantages
of herbal aqueous infusions over herbal tinctures and liquid extracts.
Modern day tinctures and liquid extracts have difficulty in meeting a
"holistic" preparation criteria. The production of "bulk"
tinctures/liquid extracts requires a huge volume of alcohol, usually
chemically produced. This alcohol, 90%+ proof, is used for plant
immersion (approximately 30% plant by volume alcohol). It is left
immersed for up to 3 months (depending on plant type &
manufacturer), the resulting liquid is highly concentrated, extremely
high in alcohol which is then diluted to finished requirement.
Long
term, continual use of products with high alcohol levels, could
ultimately have debilitating effects on the equine, in particular, the
potential of raised alcohol levels in the liver.
By
comparison, the aqueous infusion, at all levels of production, can
rightfully claim that its "holistic" form is retained. The complete
plant (or relevant part, ie root, stem, leaves etc.) is immersed in
near boiling water. It is then left to NATURALLY infuse over a period
of hours until ambient temperature is reached. Other than filtering and
adding organic acid preservatives (ie. acetic acid, propionic acid),
the product is in its finished state.
Emerald
Valley offers a complete range of aqueous infusions, including BTB
Plus, BTB Hoof, Ultimate, Evitex, Serenus, BTB Wind, and Immuzim. These
infusions are unique in that the water used is NOT tap water, but
PURIFIED WATER. This water contains no potential, harmful minerals,
salts & chemical preservatives (ie fluoride, chlorine etc.), or
bacteria. Additionally, they are manufactured under a strict quality
code, being produced in a full Medicines Licensed facility, controlled
by the UK Department of Health and the Medicines Control Agency.
The
advantages of the aqueous infusion over the tincture/liquid extract are
many, but a significant benefit includes the retention of "holistic"
properties from "the growing plant" to the "liquid in the bottle"!
Other major benefits are the use of the infusions over long-term use to
equines and the fact that being water based, they contribute to a much
higher and faster rate of absorption than either alcohol based
tinctures/liquid extracts or solids, including powders.
There
is no doubt that the aqueous infusion has a major part to play in
equine health, and the "holistic" qualities of the end products are far
more potent than the alcohol based products.
